After the fish is brought to land and before it can be sold to the customer the value adding process takes place, which means the produce may undergo various handling activities. During these steps, the constant availability of high quality flake ice is essential.

The flake ice produced by Recom machines is sub cooled to -6°C/-7°C. Due to the high amount of energy accumulation the ice will last much longer than some other types of ice used for preserving fish. In addition the shape of flake ice offers a large surface area whereby the product is cooled rapidly. 

The ice can be adjusted in various ways. The thickness can be adjusted between 1,8 mm and 2,2 mm. The firmness of the ice can be adjusted by adding salt to the water. To facilitate this a special salt mixing pump and reservoir are a standard part of the delivery.
